Marvel at the National Symbol of Laos

Visit a world heritage site

The whole of the city of Luang Prabang is a UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the most beautiful places in Asia. Traditional Lao houses, gilded temples, and French colonial homes make this a gem of a place to explore.

See Iron Age Relics

The Plain of Jars is an intriguing archaeological site dating back to the Iron Age in Laos. Near Phonsavan there are thousands of stone jars spread across the landscape. It is quite a sight and worth the journey.

Go Tubing

One of the fun things to do in Laos is to go tubing down the River Nam Song at Vang Vieng. Adventurous visitors can kayak down the Mekong between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. For those who want to take life easy there is always the river boat which journeys up and down the Mekong.

Go trekking up north

In Northern Laos the country is more remote and rugged. This is the place to see the beautiful karst landscapes and to go trekking through hill tribe villages. The region has been unchanged for centuries. 

 

Take a sauna

As if it isn’t hot enough in Laos one of the local traditions here is to take a herbal sauna. These are carried out in a shack and you simply cool off in fresh air with a cup of tea afterwards.
